Artist Statement

I am committed to creating landscape related work. Lately, I have taken an interest in Romantic, Sublime painting and I often borrow from this genre. I try to evoke the sublime by using materials that are dangerous yet beautiful. In my landscapes, waves are made of broken glass, injurious yet crystalline. Oceans are beds of suffocating, slick tar, irresistibly shiny and black. I use industrial material that is discarded at an unsustainable rate. The memory of its careless production and waste is, in itself, terrible. All the same, these materials have great power and beauty, allowing me to captivate viewers.
